Cognitive/Epistemic Coherence Domain Profile

Cognitive/Epistemic Coherence applies where AI materially generates, selects, ranks, summarizes, personalizes, or mediates information used for human belief, reasoning, knowledge, or consequential judgment. It governs process integrity; it does not authorize HEART to decide universal truth.

Verification requirements

`EC-01`	Material outputs preserve available source provenance, transformation history, and synthetic status proportionate to reliance.
`EC-02`	Material uncertainty and limitations are not concealed or represented with greater certainty than evidence supports.
`EC-03`	Consequential personalization has legitimate authority, declared purpose, protected controls, and bounded sensitive inference.
`EC-04`	Errors, disputed sources, and consequential outputs can reach competent review and visible correction.
`EC-05`	Safeguards scale with context, scale, automation, authority, susceptibility, and irreversibility.
`EC-06`	The system does not represent institutional, scientific, professional, or legal authority it does not hold.
`EC-07`	Accuracy, reliability, neutrality, educational-benefit, bias-reduction, and epistemic-protection claims remain within evidence.

Determinations are requirement-specific. The Profile does not turn disagreement about a proposition into nonconformity unless a governing requirement, source, evidence condition, or verification rule is actually implicated.

Evidence and claim boundary

Evidence may include source and citation records, evaluation datasets, error and uncertainty analysis, transformation logs, personalization tests, correction records, user studies, and independent domain evaluation.

The current baseline is provisional and requires direct human-outcome review. This Profile does not establish causal epistemic harm, population effects, scientific validity, or legal compliance. Fact-checking, retrieval evaluation, scientific review, red teaming, MAP-family methods, or workflow forensics may be used when competent and fit for purpose.
